with a focus on atherosclerosis. We have expertise in a wide spectrum of methods ranging
from biochemical/biophysical assays in basic science, over functional experiments in vitro and
in vivo to analyze cell recruitment to various animal models of cardiovascular diseases, and last
but not least we are testing our hypotheses in clinical science.

The project:
The aim of the project is to identify the functional impact of chemokines forming hetero(di)mers on cell recruitment and atherosclerosis. The candidate will learn to use various cell recruitment assays like adhesion experiments under flow conditions and will have the opportunity to contribute in the isolation of recombinant chemokines. Dependent on the ability
and the desire there will also be the opportunity to dive in challenging special techniques in biochemistry and cell biology such as Surface Plasmon Resonance (Biacore), 2-photon microscopy or to  work with animal models.
