The Centre for Drug Research and Development (CDRD) is a countrywide none profitable corporation based in Vancouver, at the University of British Columbia. It also has a research facility at Simon Fraser University and an in Vivo Pharmacology Unit at the BC Cancer Agency.
This organization is involved in the pharmaceutical development of drugs to provide those expertise to academic and health institution for research purposes.
So far, CDRD was engaged in over 100 scientific projects and has managed to build up a large network of connections to a number of research institutions across Canada.
These research investments and engagements had translated into commercial products that created a number of new jobs for British Columbia and Canada.
The team is made up of business managers, Postdocs and students.
CDRD offers Postdoc positions on a two year contract, and applications are accepted throughout the year. Preferentially, the candidate is expected to hold a PhD in a life science subject with the flexibility and willingness to discover new scientific areas. In addition, a strong publication record along with experience in drug research is required.
At present, the Centre is looking for Postdoc candidates in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The positions include working in the drug research and development division that requires knowledge of drug screening and formulation to in-vivo evaluation.
Developing assays, gene and protein arrays and biostatistical analysis may also be part of the project.

The company was founded by a group of scientists with the notion of assisting the commercialization of findings developed at the University of British Columbia.
The company is focused on developing treatment techniques for retinal conditions. So far, it has developed and commercialized an exclusive system called Visudyne, in cooporation with Novartis to treat wet age-related macular weakening. This product was very successful and is available in over 80 countries. In the United States QLT merged with Atrix Lab. Inc. with the prospect of entering new markets in advanced treatments for cancer and acne.

Currently the company is looking for Senior Directors Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Research with the following experience:
Expertise of GCP and drug development.
Management of clinical trial budget.
BSc Degree or higher and several years experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, preferably some experience in ophthalmology.
